Real Recycling for Massachusetts is a coalition of citizens, businesses, and community organizations working towards common sense when it comes to recycling. We’re working to improve existing recycling infrastructure to give everyone better access to recycling in more places.
We oppose expanding the Massachusetts Bottle Bill to include juices, teas, water, and sports drinks because it would burden working families, jeopardize good-paying jobs, and create a container redemption system that would compete with the less expensive and more convenient curbside and dropoff recycling that residents prefer.
The better solution is to expand municipal recycling giving people more options at home, work and on the go. This approach would cost less than expanding the bottle bill and would target a lot more waste – not just beverage bottles.
